It can seem like a great idea to buy a car with an MOT, it means it’s well looked after, running smoothly and fit for purpose, right? Well not always. Unfortunately with many car salesman having mechanics as good contacts, they’re able to get problematic cars through MOTs, so you could still be buying a poor quality motor. Let’s remember, to pass an MOT you don’t have to have a car that’s working perfectly, there could be parts on their way out, or parts that are damaged. All an MOT does is state the vehicle is fit for road right now. This means you still have to get it serviced, even if you do have a whole year until the next MOT. Make sure you take the time to check out the car, even if it does come with a long term MOT certificate.
