Long journey do not just take their toll on the driver, they can take their toll on the car to, so it’s important that you check the following four things before you head off on a long drive.
The first is Water
Water is just as important to cars as it is to humans, and without it your car can overheat and you enjoy can blow. Make sure your car has a good level of coolant, while you should always have some spare in the boot too.
Oil
If you’re low on oil, then you can damage your engine beyond repair, so the right level of oil is crucial on a long drive. If your oil hasn’t been changed in some time then this can be useful too or you may find you run into serious problems along the way.
Tyres
Tyre wear and pressure should always be correct before you set off. If you’re travelling on bald tyres then you could lose points or cause an accident, while the right pressure will ensure you don’t use unnecessary amount of fuel.
Lights
If you’re going to be travelling at night make sure you lights are working. You should always check your brake lights headlights, indicators, hazard lights as well as fog lights, gull beams and sidelights.
