We all know that hatchbacks tend to be the cheapest cars to run, but we’re going to guide you through three of the most fuel efficient hatchbacks.

Nissan Pixo 1.0 Visia

This car is classed as a ‘city car’ and it’s available at around £700 from new, and you get a solid 1 litre engine that doesn’t need a lot of cash to fill up. It’s not the most spacious but it is comfortable, and it handles beautifully.

Renault Twingo 1.2

The Twingo is really cost efficient but it’s stylish too and it looks a bit like the Clio, only smaller. The great thing is that even with a sporty feel, it’s still the cheapest car to run in the UK, and that’s why many pople are snapping it up.

Ford KA 1.2 Studio

The KA has always been cheap to run but the Studio now takes it a step further. It’s well built and you get 57.7mpg, which is pretty amazing.
