Breakdowns are incredibly unpredictable and could happen at any time. This is why it is very important to try and be as prepared as you possibly can be by keeping certain tools and items in you car for ‘just in case’.
• Empty Fuel Can- yes if you are paying attention this shouldn’t be the issue but we all lose focus sometimes or run into unexpected traffic and get stuck on an empty fuel tank
• Spare Tyre- if your tyre goes, you can at least use the spare to get you to a safe location or garage
• Tyre Jack- having a spare tyre is pointless without a jack to lift the vehicle
• Jump Leads- if your battery dies or you find someone with a dead battery, jump leads are very handy
• Water Bottle- this could be for either yourself if stranded or on the chance that your radiator overheats and needs water
• Torch- if you break down in the dark, a torch will be handy
There are plenty of other items you could include in your break down kit, but these things are a great start.
