You have just passed your driving test and of course the first thing you want to do I buy your own car. Finding your first car can be a daunting task, especially for those with little mechanical knowledge.

Firstly, set a budget. Having a price range in mind is a good start, and will help you negotiate a price with the seller, and know when to walk away. You want an old yet reliable first car, as you start gain driving confidence and experience over the years you can then think about upgrading. You are probably going to scratch or dent your first car, and that’s why an old car is best.

Check the service history of the vehicle and look at the condition of the car, making sure it doesn’t have too many miles on the clock and isn’t going to break down. It is always recommended to take an expert or parent with you when you buy your first car, just to make sure you don’t get ripped off or get a car that’s ready for the scrap yard.
