We all enjoy driving our cars, but only until they start acting up. A blowing exhaust is one of the most annoying problems that most car owners deal with every now and then, and that’s why it is always good to know a thing or two about this problem and how to fix it.

Below are two common causes:

An Exhaust Leak

These leaks are often caused by rusting, bad road conditions or even wear and tear. A lot of exposure to bad road conditions can cause a lot of damage to your car’s silencer hence the blowing and annoying noises. In case this is the problem, it’s recommended that you replace your silencer.

A Failing Catalytic Converter

This is a very expensive part of any exhaust system. A failing one often sounds like shaking a bocks or stones each time you make a stop at a traffic light, park or leave the car on but stationary. Sometimes these parts also get stolen by greedy scrap metal thieves! Therefore, in case your car’s exhaust starts blowing, you should check to see whether the converter is still intact and fully functional.
